Derek Wanless, who carried out the 2002 Health Trends Review at the request of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, is a Commissioner with the Statistics Commission, and a non-executive Director of Northern Rock PLC, Northumbrian Water Group plc and Business in the Community.
Derek worked for NatWest, a large financial services company for thirty years and was its Group Chief Executive for seven years until he retired in 1999.
He is a Trustee of the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts.
He has an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University, is a qualified Statistician and Banker and attended the Program for Management Development at Harvard.
