middle finger for the right hand mouse button which is used for context menu and special drag.

If you are left-handed you can change the mouse settings so that you use the mouse with your left hand. The buttons are swapped round so that you use:

index finger (finger next to thumb) for the right hand mouse button for normal selection and normal drag

middle finger for the left hand mouse button for context menu and special drag.
Instructions for changing mouse to left handed
- Select the start button in the bottom left hand corner and hover over settings and a new menu will appear
- Select control panel from the new menu and when the control panel box appears, select the mouse icon
- Select the buttons tab
- Under button configuration select left-handed
- Select apply to confirm the setting
Double click speed
Depending on your needs you can increase or decrease the double click speed of the mouse. You can set it slow to register slow double clicks or fast if you like it to recognise fast double clicks.
- Select the start button in the bottom left hand corner and hover over settings and a new menu will appear
- Select control panel from the new menu and when the control panel box appears, select the mouse icon
- Select the buttons tab
- Under the double click speed section move the pointer between slow and fast and double click the jack in a box picture to the side to test your speed.
Pointers
There are a selection of different pointers to use, different shapes and sizes to suit your needs.
- Select the start button in the bottom left hand corner and hover over settings and a new menu will appear
- Select control panel from the new menu and when the control panel box appears, select the mouse icon
- Select the pointers tab
- Use the drop down box under scheme to select different pointer schemes, when you select one, pictures will appear of what the pointer will look like in different situations, for example you would see an egg timer whilst loading but a hand when on a link
- Choose the scheme you prefer, click apply, then ok.
Speed and acceleration
You can change the speed and the rate of acceleration for the pointer once moving. It is important to be able to manage the speed of the mouse so that it does not move too fast or too slow for an individual user.
- Select the start button in the bottom left hand corner and hover over settings and a new menu will appear
- Select control panel from the new menu and when the control panel box appears, select the mouse icon
- Select the motion tab
- Use the pointer under speed to select how slow or fast the pointer moves
- Under acceleration choose between none, low, medium and high to determine how much the pointer accelerates as it is moved faster.
