Winter Supplementary Estimates 2010-11
Supplementary Estimates are used to seek additional cash for new activities that departments wish to undertake before the next Main Estimate is voted by Parliament (usually around May-July).
For Resource based Estimates (2001 -Spring 2011), there are up to three Supplementary Estimates rounds. These are known as the Winter Supplementary Estimates (November-December), Spring Supplementary Estimates (February-March) and Summer Supplementary Estimates (June).
For Budget based Estimates (Summer 2011-) there is one Supplementary Estimate round. These will normally be published around January or February.
Out of turn Supplementary Estimates are exceptional and only published when a department needs urgent provision for activities at short notice and cannot await a normal Estimate Round.
