CORRIGENDUM: AVERAGE INCREASES IN DISPOSABLE INCOME

The Financial Statement and Budget Report (FSBR), the Pocket Budget and HM Treasury Press Notices 1, 8, 9 and 10 include minor errors in the figures for average weekly increases in disposable incomes, reflecting an error in the modelling process.

Paragraph 5.10 of the FSBR (page 68) should read:

"5.10 The Budget helps families with children in particular. Five and a half million households with children in the UK will see increases in their disposable income, gaining an average of £250 a year. Families on low incomes gain the most on average. The 20 per cent of poorest households with children, who between them include 3.8 million children, will gain an average of £500 a year."

In HM Treasury Press Notices 8 and 10 references to poorer families gaining an average increase of £200 a year should read £160 a year; families with children gaining an average increase of £300 a year should read £250 a year; and references to the 20 per cent of poorest households with children gaining an average of £600 a year should read £500 a year.

In HM Treasury Press Notice 1 the reference to the poorest 20 per cent of households with children gaining an average of £720 a year should read £500 a year.

A corrected version of chart 5.1 of the FSBR (page 68) is shown overleaf. The charts in Treasury Press Notices 8, 9 and 10 contain minor errors but their broad shape is correct.

Corrected data from the notes for editors to HM Treasury Press Notices 8 and 10 is also shown overleaf. Minor corrections may also be necessary to the data from the notes for editors to HM Treasury Press Notice 9.
