HM Treasury has a strong commitment to equality and diversity, as shown in its recent Ten-Point Diversity Delivery Plan. Our aim is to be a department which is open and accessible, recruiting and retaining diverse, talented and high-performing people who support and develop one another. The Department’s corporate performance is influenced by its achievement of targets which broadly work to achieve:

  • a dramatic improvement in the diversity of people working here
  • an inclusive environment; and
  • an environment that values and harnesses diversity to improve its corporate performance

Work-life balance is also a focal area for the Department with its range of flexible working options (drop down to include: part-time, compressed hours, job-share, home/remote and flexible working hours). We offer childcare vouchers and participate in the Westminster Holiday Play Scheme - available to current staff’s children during all school holidays.

Our Diversity Strategy is championed at Director-level and represented by different interest groups at all levels across the Department.  Some of these groups are the Disability Advisory Group, Ethnic Minority Advisory Group, and the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Network.

HM Treasury was recognized at the 2003 British Diversity Awards for its policy on Alternative Working Patterns and again in 2004 for its Disability Strategy.
