On 17 February the Government launched a consultation, ‘A new approach to financial regulation: building a stronger system’, which provided further detail on the Coalition Government’s proposals for reforming the framework of financial regulation in the UK, building on the Government’s earlier consultation A new approach to financial regulation: judgement, focus and stability published on 26 July 2010.
Responses from stakeholders were invited during the consultation period, which ran from 17 February to 14 April 2011. The Government received over 150 responses from financial services firms, including banks, building societies, insurance firms, Independent Financial Advisors, exchanges, brokers and related trade associations, as well as consumer representatives.
During this period the Government also held several workshops and met with a wide range of representatives from trade associations, consumer groups and other interested parties.
A summary of the responses to this consultation appears in the Government’s latest document, A new approach to financial regulation: the blueprint for reform issued June 2011.
All individual responses, where confidentiality was not requested, are published alphabetically, below.
