Simplification plans
In March 2005, the Better Regulation Taskforce published 'Less is More', recommending that:
“by September 2006, all departments, in consultation with stakeholders, should develop a rolling programme of simplification to identify regulations that can be simplified, repealed, reformed, and/or consolidated.”
In line with these recommendations, in December 2006 HM Treasury and Office of Government and Commerce (OGC) published their first annual simplification plan. HM Treasury and OGC's second simplification plan published in December 2007, outlines the progress made so far against the administrative burden target.
The simplification plans are available in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer you can download the software free of charge from the Adobe website.
