Money laundering advisory committee (MLAC)

In 2002, the Government set up the Money Laundering Advisory Committee. The committee has the role of developing and overseeing a strategic approach to money laundering prevention for the UK as a whole and includes members from Government, industry, law enforcement, the professions, and consumer representatives. It also plays an important role in reviewing industry guidance notes before they are approved by the Treasury.
