Transparency Directive
The Transparency Directive, which was adopted in 2004, established minimum requirements for the periodic and ongoing reporting of listed companies. The Transparency Directive was introduced to ensure minimum reporting obligations for companies across the EU. However, it allowed national authorities and exchanges to impose higher standards if appropriate to individual markets.
In May 2010, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the modernisation of the Transparency Directive. The European Commission’s consultation paper can be downloaded as follows:
