International
The international unit is IUK’s primary strategic resource for sharing UK experience on PPP policy and programme delivery with overseas governments as well as helping to ensure that IUK is current with international best practice on infrastructure long-term planning, prioritisation, financing and delivery.
The breadth of international infrastructure delivery, and in particular PPP, expertise that exists within IUK is extensive and includes the experience that has been built up over a number of years through the activities of the international team of Partnerships UK (PUK) which now lies at the core of IUK’s international unit. In addition, the international team has full access to all IUK’s project support, policy and management resource as well as to wider expertise within HM Treasury and Local Partnerships, IUK’s sister organisation that supports local government in PPP project delivery. This gives IUK substantial depth as well as breadth of sectoral PPP practices.
What we do
We lead IUK’s work internationally by:
- supporting overseas governments and development finance organisations on PPP programmes and wider infrastructure issues;
- providing training to overseas public officials with a particular focus on PPP project delivery;
- contributing to IUK’s work programme by drawing on best practice overseas;
- supporting other UK Government Departments and agencies with infrastructure development and investment issues;
As an HM Treasury based unit, we focus only on the public sector, supporting public sector authorities, PPP Units, development banks and multilateral organisations around the world providing strategic advice and support from a public sector perspective.
Where we work
IUK, and previously PUK, has worked with over 35 governments around the world providing high level strategic advisory, technical and training support for the development and delivery of their PPP policy, programmes and projects.
In addition, IUK is in continuous contact with PPP Units and multilaterals organisations across the world exchanging best practice. This includes our support and membership of the European PPP Expertise Centre (EPEC) located in the European Investment Bank and our close relation with and support to, amongst others, the World Bank and most regional development banks.
