Government construction pipeline update

26 April 2012

In fulfilling the commitments made in the Plan for Growth at Budget 2011 the Government has updated the construction pipeline last published in November 2011 alongside the National Infrastructure Plan and the infrastructure investment pipeline.  The Government funded construction pipeline includes over 600 projects and programmes, around £40 billion of investment over 4 years to 2014/15 (excluding rail and other regulated and private sector infrastructure investment).

Since the November publication the Government has worked together with industry to improve the pipeline.  This latest edition is substantially improved in terms of its level of granularity and its ‘reach’ beyond the major construction spending departments  Progressively the Government will capture all central government construction spend.  Progress has also been made with local government and for the first time the pipeline includes details on a further 500 local authority highways procurements in addition to the 600 centrally funded projects.

Using this information, businesses will have better visibility over Government spending on construction and make more intelligent decisions over where they should invest and plan to compete.

This update is for the government construction pipeline only.  The construction pipeline will be now updated on a six monthly basis, the Infrastructure Investment Pipeline data will be refreshed annually.

Government construction pipeline update data

This version of the pipeline has been saved in excel 97-2003 format. As a result there will be a minor loss of functionality e.g. the pivot table on the Summary Government Construction tab will only appear as fixed numbers.
