International issues
HM Treasury is responsible for monitoring and analysing global economic developments to ensure that the UK’s domestic and international policies position the UK economy to benefit as well as protect it from global trends. Regional and global analysis also helps to inform the UK’s engagement with international bodies, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the G7 and the G20, and with our strategic partners as part of the UK’s Economic and Financial Dialogues.
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) was created in 2010 to provide independent analysis of the UK’s public finances. Among its roles, it has responsibility for producing economic forecasts, including of the global economy.
