Gift Aid Consultation responses

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Jane Kennedy MP, today announced the publication of the summary of responses to the Treasury´s Gift Aid consultation. The consultation visited seven cities across the United Kingdom over the summer, starting in London on July 30th and ending in Cardiff on 21st September. Participants were also encouraged to submit written responses and contribute through an online survey. The consultation closed on 30th September following input from over 300 people and a diverse range of organisations.

Jane Kennedy said:
"I have been delighted with both the number of third sector representatives who have contributed to the Gift Aid consultation and the wide range of views that we have received. We all want to see the take up of Gift Aid improve and I hope that this consultation will be the first step to making that a reality. I look forward to working with sector representatives in taking a closer look at some of the areas raised and would like to thank everyone for their input into such a valuable process".

Following publication of the summary of responses, the Treasury will now look to establish a series of follow-up meetings for further sector input on some of the issues around the areas raised prior to Budget 2008. These will involve members of the third sector, as well as Government officials. Further details will be posted on the Gift Aid consultation page on the HM Treasury website.
