Fraud

Fraud is just one of the many risks that organisations face. Risk in the context of managing fraud risk is the vulnerability or exposure an organisation has to fraud and irregularity. It combines the probability of fraud occurring and the corresponding impact measured in monetary terms.

Below are links to Annual Government Fraud Reports and anti-fraud guidance produced by the Treasury. The Government Annual Fraud Report is an analysis of fraud perpetrated by staff within departments and their executive agencies. "Tackling Internal Fraud" provides options for controlling identified fraud risk to acceptable levels of exposure. Fraud case notes are based on real cases and offer advice about reducing the risk of fraud in specific areas. Fraud Guidance Notes on specific topics will also be added to this site from time to time.

The Fraud Reports and other guidance are available below in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer you can download the software free of charge from the Adobe website.
