Committment to action: Managing taxpayers' money wisely

The Programme for Government (Cabinet Office website) established the intent to strengthen financial discipline and place an obligation on public servants to manage taxpayers’ money wisely. The following document is a result of widespread consultation with the Government Finance Profession, external advisors and the CCAB institutes. It sets out four enablers for improving financial management:- Effective leadership
- A cost conscious culture
- Professionalism
- Expert central functions
The paper is a high level statement of intent and the foundation for a Finance Transformation Programme across central government endorsed by the Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
