Spending Review
The Government published Public Service Agreements 2003 - 2006 on Monday 15 July 2002, at the conclusion of the 2002 Spending Review.
As foreshadowed in that document, the table below lists all the 2000 Public Service Agreement (PSA) targets and shows how they translate into the 2002 targets.
All the targets shown are as published in both documents. However, the 2000 PSAs are now listed under the departments that have assumed responsibility for them following machinery of government changes over the last 2 years, to make it easier to find the related 2002 PSAs. The 2000 PSAs are listed in the left hand column, and the 2002 PSAs in the right hand column. The middle column indicates how the two sets of PSAs relate to each other - except where otherwise indicated, references are to 2002 target numbers.
A number of the 2000 PSAs have been expressed in more simple terms in the corresponding 2002 PSAs. Departments will provide a more detailed explanation of what each target means - precisely what improvement is to be made over what timescale, and how it will be measured - in Technical Notes. Departments will also publish Service Delivery Agreements in the autumn, setting out milestones and plans for meeting their PSA targets. These will also include a number of the 2000 PSA targets not included in the 2002 PSAs, where they are better expressed as inputs towards meeting the PSA targets, than as outcomes in themselves. This website will provide links to all the departmental Technical Notes and Service Delivery Agreements.
To help the public track progress towards meeting the 2002 PSAs, the Government will also introduce regular web-based reporting of departments? performance before April 2003.
