Tax forums
16 July 2010
The Government aims to create the most competitive corporate tax regime in the G20. In its first Budget, the Government announced a major package of reforms to reduce corporation tax rates. The Government understands the importance of the whole corporate tax system to business and intends to bring forward a more detailed programme of reform, informed by consultation with business.
Alongside the Budget, the Government also published a discussion document on improving the way in which tax policy is made to deliver greater predictability, stability and simplicity in the tax system.
To inform future tax reform and oversee tax policy making, the Government has established two new forums.
Further information on these forums can be found on the following pages:
-
Business Forum on Tax and Competitiveness

-
Tax Professionals Forum
A forum of tax professionals, chaired by the Exchequer Secretary, to oversee the Government’s new approach to tax policy making which will lead to greater stability in the tax system and an improvement in the quality of our tax law.
